Meet the Teachers
The teachers at Harbour Yoga Studio are here to support your practice — whether you are stepping onto the mat for the very first time or deepening a long-standing commitment to yoga.
Maya Collins
Founder and lead teacher at Harbour Yoga Studio
Maya Collins founded Harbour Yoga Studio with a simple belief: that yoga should be accessible, nurturing and genuinely enjoyable for every adult in Brighton, regardless of age, body type or experience.
Maya teaches Vinyasa Flow, Yin, Beginners and Pregnancy Yoga, bringing a warm and encouraging approach to each class. Her Vinyasa Flow sessions are dynamic yet mindful, linking breath and movement in a way that builds strength and clarity. Her Yin classes invite students to slow right down, holding poses for longer to release deep tension in the connective tissues. In Beginners classes, Maya breaks down fundamental postures with care and humour, ensuring nobody feels lost or out of their depth. Her Pregnancy Yoga classes are tailored to support the changing needs of each trimester, focusing on breath, comfort and community.
Maya believes that the relationship between teacher and student matters enormously, and she takes time to get to know the people in her classes so that guidance feels personal rather than generic.

Teaching styles explained
Understanding how each class is taught helps you choose the right one for you.
Vinyasa Flow
A flowing, breath-centred practice that links movement and inhale-exhale in continuous sequences. Expect to build warmth, strength and focus. Suitable for those with some yoga experience who enjoy a more dynamic session.
Yin Yoga
A slower, meditative style in which poses are held for several minutes at a time. Yin targets the deeper layers of connective tissue and encourages stillness of mind. Suitable for all levels, including complete beginners.
Beginners Yoga
Designed for adults who are new to yoga or returning after a long break. Every posture is explained clearly, modifications are always offered, and there is no assumption of prior knowledge. A relaxed, supportive environment.
Pregnancy Yoga
Tailored sessions for pregnant women at any stage of pregnancy. The practice focuses on gentle movement, breathing techniques and connecting with your body through each trimester. Always taught with safety and individual comfort in mind.
